Strait Jacket was a Rock “N” Roll clothing store located in West Hollywood and owned by Genny Schorr, Antoinette Laumer Sales and Jake Riviera during the height of the MTV era from 1978-1982. The shop provided custom clothing, embellished vintage clothing and designs provided by Antoinette, who also did graphics and ads that were featured in L.A. Weekly. Genny Schorr was the main wardrobe stylist, was at the shop daily and styled clothing for videos and album covers for The Bangles, The Go-Go’s, The Plimsouls, Bruce Springsteen, The Cramps, Siouxsie Sioux, The Psychedelic Furs, Elvis Costello and The Attractions, Nick Lowe, Carlene Carter, Wall of Voodoo, and Squeeze.

“We were way ahead of our time in a way. Strait Jacket was like my personal salon. We had crazy dressing rooms that looked like shower stalls and a 1959 jukebox that we listened to while I entertained all the most fun rockers of the era. When the shop closed, I was heartbroken but that was quickly remedied when I was put on retainer by Linda Ronstadt.”
